Allen brings a lifetime of practical experience and a strong community spirit to the Bridge It NZ team. Born and raised in Matawai, Allen spent years travelling overseas and working around New Zealand before eventually settling in the Bay of Plenty in 2014. His career has been shaped by hands-on roles including 23 years of contract fencing and 12 years in earthworks - along with a lifelong passion for building, engineering, and anything DIY.

A true community man, Allen helped build the Matawai squash court and went on to play for 25 years. He also served on the local school board for 9 years. His connection to the land runs deep - first as a shepherd, and now as an avid hunter and fisherman. Matawai School holds a special place in his heart, with four generations of his family - his grandfather, father, himself, and his sons - all having attended.

Married with two sons, Allen grew up with four brothers and no sisters, surrounded by great mentors who helped shape his can-do attitude. Whether he’s out on site or tinkering away on a new project, Allen’s always up for a challenge - and as he puts it, "life’s a gas with still many adventures to come."
